Teresa Casal (CL 2008 participant and science department chair at Felix Verela High School in Miami) is teaching a class at Miami-Dade College during the summer of 2009 using some of the Coastlines curriculum. EME 3410—"Instructional Technology in Mathematics and Science"—is being offered in the School of Education of the InterAmerican campus. Ms. Casal will teach the class to two groups of fifteen math and science pre-service teachers. In the class, Teresa will use the My World GIS software if the college has been able to obtain it, or Google Earth if not, and demonstrate use of the PASCO GLXplorer data loggers and probes to collect weather data. If possible, Ms. Casal will use some of the resources from the Coastlines Webinars, perhaps the introductions to GIS and GPS.

The Florida Coastal Everglades Long-Term Ecological Research
(FCE-LTER) Site (FCE-LTER) is forming a partnership with the Riverwoods Field Lab at Florida Atlantic University.  They have three research sites that are located at: Riverwoods on the Kissimmee River in Highlands County, DuPuis pinelands/cypress marsh in southern Martin county, and LILA in Loxahatchee Refuge.  The FCE LTER site plans to develop GIS lessons that support the Coastlines curriculum while collaborating with other teachers at Riverwoods.
