Mapping Ocean Sanctuaries |

Channel Islands, Florida Keys, Gray's Reef, and Stellwagen Bank National marine Sanctuaries provided the laboratories for CIPE's Mapping Ocean Sanctuaries (MOS) project funded by the National Geographic Society's Grosvenor Grant Program (NGSGG). Students engaged in field study and teachers gained valuable professional development by using inquiry-based instructional materials developed with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Science Foundation, and NGSGG. During workshops conducted for the project, teachers and students learned how to use geographic information system-based field data collection and analysis to study oceans. Six workshops were conducted over a two year period.
